WordLEX Party

A word duel against the computer with rules you choose. Last letter to first, first to first, or matching first and last letters — you decide how the chain works, how long you have to answer and what a mistake costs.

What you can configure

Every rule is set before the first word is spoken.

Word-linking rules

Chain the last letter to the first, the first to the first, or require the first and last letters to match.

Time per turn

Choose how many seconds you get. The computer plays under exactly the same rule.

Penalty limit

Set how many penalties end the game, and when a penalty applies: only on a missed turn, or on every invalid attempt as well.

Repeated words

Forbid repeats, or allow them. You can also keep or replace the word after a missed turn.

Two dictionaries

An English word list derived from the ESDB and SCOWL projects, and a Russian list derived from OpenCorpora. Both are bundled in the app.

Global Hall of Fame

An optional shared ranking. Submit your lifetime points and a display name of your choice — or skip it and stay entirely offline.

How a game runs

  1. Choose a language, a rule set, the time per turn and the penalty limit.
  2. You and the computer take turns naming a real word from the dictionary.
  3. A word that breaks the rule is rejected and costs a penalty, if penalties are enabled.
  4. The first player to reach the penalty limit loses.
  5. Finished games are saved locally, and optionally to the Hall of Fame.

Offline by default

The dictionary, the rules, the computer opponent and the history all work with the network switched off. Settings, saved games and results are written to the app’s private storage and never leave the device.

The one exception

If you use the global Hall of Fame, the app contacts the Talo leaderboard service over HTTPS and sends a random anonymous identifier generated on your device, the display name you chose, and your score. No advertising identifier, no contacts, no location, no analytics. Uninstalling the app removes all local data; a Hall of Fame entry is removed on request.
